Distilled from 100% Blue Weber Agave by Hacienda Corralejo, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Age: 13 months in American oak barrels.
Appearance: Lighter in hue than one might expect from an añejo, and with very long legs.
Nose: Refreshingly fruity for an añejo.
Flavor: Light oil, very floral, with an explosion of black pepper on the palate.
Finish: Long and pleasantly piquant.
Conclusions: Although lighter in character than one expects from the expression, this añejo is nevertheless remarkable for its combination of delicate touch and palatal persistence.
Cocktail Recommendation: A Boulevardier, with tequila standing in for rye whiskey, that employs an amaro lighter in character than the standard Campari, one the botanicals of which won’t overwhelm this gentle juice.
