Weed Cellars, a wine brand located in Los Angeles, California, is kicking the alcohol industry off its laurels. Only a couple of months after the label launched (July 2019), it’s already situated in 20 states, and it looks like it will be in the remaining ones by the end of the year.
The wines don’t contain any cannabis, hence they allow your customers access to a rebel culture without having to compromise their true affinity for a well-balanced Chardonnay. Since none of the portfolio’s products contains cannabis, each wine is distributed through the regular channels. Southern Glazers and RNDC are two names that come to mind. At $15.99 Weed Cellars is already flying off shelves in major states like Texas, Illinois and California.
Managing partner and industry veteran, Jim Moeller acknowledges that showing up to dinner with a bottle of Weed is fun way to make an entrance by anyone’s standards, but he explains this brand is more than clever marketing. “It’s a friendly, fun brand that will surely bring people together. However, it’s worth noting that it’s also scoring high in ratings, and over-delivers on price across the portfolio,” he explains.
Weed Cellars also has a Stag’s Leap icon brand, Smoke, launching later this year which will be allocated to key accounts. Ask your distributor.
Merchandising support includes “We Sell Weed” decals, shelf-talkers, backer cards, end caps and window displays. The masterminds behind the brand include business icons, big names in country music, R&B superstars, high-profiled members of the entertainment industry, and professional athletes, all of whom will be promoting the brand through their own consumer fan bases, as well as advertising.
Bonfort’s reviewed two offerings from the portfolio. Other varietals include Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc/Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc.
