Eastside Distilling Starts Shipping Redneck Riviera Whiskey “Granny Rich Reserve”

Eastside Distilling, Inc. announced that the new reserve Redneck Riviera Whiskey, “Granny Rich Reserve,” has started to ship. Granny Rich Reserve is a premium priced blend of traditional corn whiskey, aged three years or more, blended with American single malt aged at least four years. It is designed to meet the expectations of the most critical whiskey drinkers, including Granny Rich herself.

According to the Distilled Spirits Council, vodka has become the backbone of the spirits industry, accounting for 32% of all volume. In 2017, 71.3 million 9-liter cases of vodka were sold in the United States, generating $6.2 billion in revenue for distillers.

The Council states that an important growth driver has been the continued popularity of flavored vodkas as they now account for around 21% of all vodkas sold in the U.S. Today, consumers can enjoy vodkas that have been infused with natural spices, refreshing citrus flavors, raspberry, vanilla and other alternatives.

George Washington Distillery Turning Out Strong Volume

In 1797, George Washington’s farm manager, James Anderson, convinced his employer that producing whiskey made from corn and rye grown on the estate would be a natural complement to his milling business. Washington was initially skeptical but soon granted permission to build the 2,250-square-foot distillery, making it among the largest whiskey distilleries in early America. By 1799, Washington produced 11,000 gallons of whiskey, worth the then-substantial sum of $7,500. The distillery ceased operating in 1814 when the building burned.
