2019 Bonfort’s Wine & Spirits Journal
Top 100 Wine

The 2019 Bonfort’s Wine & Spirits Journal Top 100 Wineries is our curated list of the 100 most exceptional wineries that our editorial team has experienced in the previous year.

Our inaugural list includes wineries from nearly every winemaking region in the world, including a selection of top saké, port, and sherry producers.

Notable trends emerged as we tasted our way through literally thousands of wines, including the superb, world-class quality of winemaking coming from wineries in the Grandes Pagos de España association focused on single estate wines.

Uruguay surprised our team with exceptional quality and value throughout the region. Bodega Garzón (owned by Bonfort’s Power 100 #15 member, Alejandro Bulgheroni) is the 2019 Bonfort’s Wine & Spirits Journal International Winery of The Year. Bonfort’s International Winemaker of The Year is Germán Bruzzone (Bodega Garzón), which is crafting wines that rival the best in Napa and Bordeaux.

Small independent U.S. producers ranging from Autry Cellars (San Luis Obispo), Canihan (Sonoma), Clos Saron (Sierra Foothills), and Liquid Farm (Santa Rita Hills), to the 2019 Bonfort’s Wine & Spirits Journal U.S. Winery of the Year, Caldwell Vineyard (Napa’s Coombsville AVA), and Bonfort’s U.S. Winemaker of The Year, Marbue Marke (Caldwell Vineyard), all demonstrated that some of the truly best wines in the world are made at the 50 – 250 case production level.

International favorites here include Belondrade (Spain), Finca Sandoval (Spain), Dreissigacker (Germany), La Fortuna (Italy), Michel Gonet (France), Mirabeau (France), Moorooduc Estate (Australia) and the truly exceptional Ports of Ramos Pinto (Portugal).

Bonfort’s Wine & Spirits Journal is very proud to present our Top 100 Wineries for 2019.
